Where two rivers meet in Sacramento – the River
City – diverse musical influences converge as well.

Its vibrant music scene has produced many
creative alliances, including the acoustic  group Riverbend Folk Band.

Riverbend Folk Band brings together these four talented musicians, whose rich musical backgrounds flow smoothly together providing a unique musical experience for the listener. They perform some old favorite folk tunes as well as Country, Cowboy and Bluegrass with a fresh new sound for your viewing and listening pleasure. The group envision a bright new future for Riverbend and of course folk music.

The members of the group are Art Morgan, Ron Wilburne, Dave Rietz & Dave Fajen.  The band came together as these four members in the Fall of 2009.
Both Art & Ron are former members of the New Christy Minstrels & The Bear Back Riders of America. Both groups were under the direction of Randy Sparks (founder of the New Christie Minstrels.) They have also had the distinct pleasure of being included, on two separate occasions, in concerts with “Glenn Yarbrough.” Ron has also opened for “The Fabulous Limeliters.”

History and Biography of Riverbend Folk Band

​Dave Rietz Fiddle/Mandolin and vocals has been in the music business for 50 years. Dave has a background in Theater Pipe Organ performance and played several venues in and around the Sacramento Region in the 70's thru the 90's. He was on the board of directors of the American Theatre Organ Society Sacramento region.  He has been active with Old Time Fiddlers, Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and has performed with a few of the bands in that organization. He is also active with the Western Swing Society of Sacramento and was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in October of 2014.  

Dave Fajen the 4th member of the group, provides a great foundational bass guitar to complete the group. Dave began playing music in his teens and has played guitar, banjo and dobro for his own pleasure and with friends. He enjoys all types of music, especially folk, blues, rock and country.

The group has been together for 7 years and has been gaining popularity as entertainers due to their ability to offer dynamic style spanning different music genre always surprising audiences with their vocal harmonies and broad musical styles.

They continue to grow as a band because they work at developing their skills and will be continuing to bring new songs into their growing set lists as well as producing new albums in the near future for people to take away from their live performances.
